Abstract: The submitted paper communicates findings of an experimental reading research using the eye-tracking method. The aim of the research was to follow the eye movements (saccades and regressions) of readers during the reading of different types of literary texts (prose, poetry, drama). This paper outlines the phases of reading and identifies the most important parts of different types of texts that help the readers understand literary text. The relation between psychology and reading of literary text is implied the end of the paper.
