Abstract: This article outlines the new approach to studying the reading process and readers’ habits and preferences in academic environment. It is focused on the in-depth reading but the readers target audience sample comprises students enrolled in the two departments of the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT). Objective of the study are their preferences to traditional or e-form of reading the teaching materials. The results from the study of the students attitudes and habits to traditional and e-reading in ULSIT, Bulgaria, can be used for improvement of the enrichment of the teaching materials collections available at the academic libraries.
