ENGLISH LESSONS IN THE FRAME OF INTERNATIONALISATION AT UNIVERSITY OF MARIBOR: FACULTY CASE STUDY

Abstract: The case study is based on English lessons held at Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture, which were a part of the project “Strategy of Internationalisation of Slovene Higher Education from 2016 to 2020”. Namely, the Action Plan (2016) resulted in a public call that enabled the University of Maribor to gain financial means for a variety of activities, among them English courses for teaching and administration staff. The case study describes the process of course design aiming to reach better language competence and to tailor the contents according to the participants’ needs at their work. The results of the analysis of the offered courses and participants’ opinions show the interest for such activities within university and faculty, and emphasise the importance of the public calls which enable financial resources and potentially improve mobility and further desire for life-long learning.
