Abstract: Extensive reading (ER) has proven to be a promising approach to improving English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ language skills. However, it needs a longer duration for the students to improve in standardized tests, such as the TOEIC. In this paper, we would like to propose a few combinations of ER with other learning activities such as an overseas study program or a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) course. Based on our experience and the analyses, we could also determine why the students’ improvements could not be measured in the past decades.
