Streszczenie: The Mediterranean basin is comprising of some of the world`s most unique biogeographically areas and harbouring high levels of biological diversity. This biodiversity is primarily due to the particular climatic conditions, habitat heterogeneity and different origins of its` flora. It is known that South Anatolia and Cyprus Island are one of the most important hotspot of plant richness and endemism. Kyrenia mountain range is one of the most important sites which have a unique and high ecological value for biodiversity and nature conservation. The high elevations of the Kyrenia mountain range supports many endemic plants, some of these endemics are listed under IUCN such as Delphinium caseyi L. In this research, important plant areas were identified along the Kyrenia Mountains during 2007-2015. Literature review and plant surveys were carried out in order to identify most important locations for plant biodiversity. A total of seven important plant areas were determined during the research, which is namely: Alevkaya, Bufavento, Beşparmak, Kivanctepe (Kornos), Karmi, St. Hillarion and Kantara. This research provided important information on plant biodiversity and their relation with mountainous ecosystems. In the same time, it has been underlined the importance of conservation of the high elevation mountainous ecosystems along the Kyrenia Mountain Range, Cyprus.
