Streszczenie: The aim of the paper is to analyse the comparative agricultural advantage patterns of the three biggest Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), namely Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. Although agriculture still plays an important role in the region, Kazakhstan and Russia are net food importers, while Ukraine has a continuously increasing trade surplus. Balassa indices reflects to this fact as Kazakhstan and Russia have lower, while Ukraine has higher values. However, stability and duration tests show that survival chances fell significantly from 2000 to 2015.
