OPTIMIZATION OF PROCESS PARAMETERS FOR EXTRACTION OF POLYPHENOLIC COMPOUNDS FROM WILD CYCLAMEN (CYCLAMEN PURPURASCENS MILL.) TUBERS

Streszczenie: The aim of this study was to model the extraction of polyphenolic compounds from wild cyclamen (Cyclamen purpurascens Mill.) tubers using a central composite design (CCD). The extractions were performed under reflux using ethanol solutions (20-100%, v/v) at solid-to-liquid-ratio of 1:5-1:30 (m/v) for different extraction time (10-120 min). The extraction parameters were varied according to the CCD matrix in order to investigate their effect on the yield of total polyphenols. The obtained results were fitted using a second-order polynomial model. The analysis of variance was used to estimate the influence of extraction parameters and to determine the fitness of the model. After fitting the experimental data, the response was maximized to obtain the optimal conditions for the extraction of polyphenol compounds using a numerical optimization method. The experimental value of the yield obtained under optimal conditions was agreed with the value predicted using the proposed regression equation.
