Streszczenie: Sampling of five water bodies in Protected Site PODA, and of two water bodies in the greater Special Protection Area MANDRA-PODA, Burgas, Bulgaria, both designated for the protection of bird species, was performed during the high-flow period of February 2014 and the low-flow period of June 2015. A new approach for ecological assessment of these waters was applied using the obtained data on physico-chemical and chemical characteristics of the waters and subsequent thermodynamic modeling. The inorganic and organic chemical species of major ions (Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+) and trace elements Al, Fe, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb in the water samples were calculated and discussed.
