Streszczenie: This paper is focusing on the adequacy of the forms and symbols used in modern religious art with reference to the emotional needs and understanding of the audience as well as their specificity. The form and decoration of some modern crosiers are strictly connected with the communication of moral values and personal models. in the context of considered issues the concept of value in the light of the current Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church is examined. The events of the second half of the twentieth century brought about significant changes in religious art. Crosiers made in this time, particularly at the end of the century, as works of modern art, show a diversity of styles, from conservative to innovative tendencies. Among the modern crosiers under consideration, those in which form plays a crucial aesthetic and symbolic role belong to the most prominent hierarchs of the Church.
