Streszczenie: Even the road safety in Baltic republics have been improved faster than in other European regions, we still face a number of safety problems, especially regarding the lack of the infrastructure safety issues. Safe transportation is important, especially considering that the increasing road traffic in the Baltic Sea Region comes at the price of accidents during which lives are lost and injuries caused. The road safety must be further improved to help to reduce the number of accidents, fatalities and injuries. Road infrastructure is one of the key pillars for road safety. In the BALTRIS project authorities and academic institutions in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden work together for improved road safety focusing on infrastructure safety issues, including road safety audit and inspection knowledge.
