Streszczenie: One of the most widely used processes of SO2 removal from flue gases is absorption by slurry containing CaCO3. The existing installations are designed for big capacity boilers and provide low degree of absorption. The stringent environmental protection regulations for SO2 emissions in EU call for better solutions. The aim of the present discussion on the current problems and achievements in gas desulfurization is to help the finding of the proper direction of the efforts for developing of a new technology and the choice of apparatuses and equipment.
