Streszczenie: The corrosion of archaeological artefacts in soil has been studied for different purposes. On one hand it provides information for preventing degradation of the object after excavation and ensuring its reliable restoration. On the other hand, some authors considered archaeological artefacts as analogues for the estimation of iron corrosion behaviour in soil, particularly to obtain average corrosion rates. For instance, it seems that the cathodic reaction location can move in the corrosion scale during the corrosion process.
