Rezumat: The submitted paper explores the correlation between the variable of general self-esteem of undergraduate teacher training students whose major is English language and literature and the variable of cultural stereotypes. Rosenberg`s General Self-Esteem Scale and Cultural Stereotypes Scale (the latter created as a result of the author`s previous studies) were utilised in order to prove the hypothesis that students with a low self-esteem are prone to the choice of negative cultural stereotypes. Possible impacts of such preferences and possible minimisation of cultural bias are suggested. The examined mutual dependence also points to high interdisciplinarity of the field of intercultural communication and the demands that it places on future English language teachers.
