Rezumat: This study investigated a collaborative learning environment employing a cloud-based system platform for science experiments in higher education, developed on the basis of ubiquitous learning. The cloud-based system platform was completed according to a systematic design process, ADDIE, which involves analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Four sophomore undergraduate students pursuing science-related degrees in the midlands of Taiwan participated in this study. A qualitative research design was adopted, and triangulation was used to establish the validity of this qualitative study. Data were collected from a questionnaire and focus interviews to investigate students’ perceptions on using the cloud-based system platform for physics experiments in science laboratories. The data analysis results revealed empirical evidence of positive interdependence, face-to-face interaction, individual accountability, social skills, and group processing, indicating that college students learned collaboratively when they used the cloud-based system platform to perform science experiments.
