Rezumat: Breastfeeding promotion can improve health status of infants, young children and breastfeeding mothers. The WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes (WHO Code) aims to protect and promote breastfeeding, and ensure the proper use of breast milk substitutes. The aim of this paper was to explore the knowledge and attitudes of health professionals in Bulgaria to the WHO Code. The study reveals low levels of knowledge on WHO Code. To increase the rates of breastfeeding in Bulgaria, health professionals need increased knowledge about recommended infant feeding practices and increased awareness of international policies to promote breastfeeding.
