Rezumat: The article analyses theoretically the perspective of social work in the penal system. The penal system creates the conditions and opportunities for a successful reintegration of convicts into society. This system is being intensively developed and social work is becoming more and more important in order to help change the behaviour, attitudes and skills of prisoners so that they can successfully reintegrate into society after serving their sentences. This article discusses the place and role of social work in the penal system. The research aimed to find out what skills a social worker needs to have when working with prisoners in order to be able to help them successfully prepare for their reintegration back into society after imprisonment.
