Rezumat: Norms, values and ideals in the perception of journalists and their audiences are different. The author provides a number of factors influencing the nature of the value broadcasting in the media environment. Journalism serves the value-orienting function in society, emphasizing the most important categories of relevance to this historical time. The last 10 years, Russian society with the participation of mass media is revising its political orientation. The most difficult to determine are such value categories like “freedom” and “power”, moreover the concept of universal values can’t be determined at all. We also see the continuing comprehension of the relationship between society and individual, personal and social values.
