SYNTHESIS AND CATALYTIC PROPERTIES OF CU0.5ZN0.5FE2O4 FERRITE

Rezumat: Copper-zinc spinel oxide nanoparticles have been prepared by method of precipitation with following 57 thermal treatment. DTA, X-ray powder diffraction, IR Spectroscopy and Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy were used for the samples characterization. The formation of ferrite phase with cubic structure was observed for the materials treated at 400ÛC, 500ÛC, 700ÛC. A significant change in the average crystallite size from 19.3 to 42.8 nm and slight increase in the lattice parameters with the annealing temperature increase were detected. The highest catalytic activity in methanol decomposition with about 70% selectivity to CO and hydrogen was observed for the sample obtained at 400ÛC.
