The composition of the mother liquor was monitored by HPLC. Correlation of the data with the activities of crystal usnic acids isolated from Usnea barbata and sodium usniate found that investigated mother liquor have qualitatively and quantitatively preserved antiseptic properties. The activity of mother liquor to the following test microorganisms was confirmed: Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Micrococcus flavus, Sarcina lutea, Micrococcus pyogenes, Micrococcus luteus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans.
