Rezumat: The paper addresses the operation of an irrigation area through pressurized pipes based on the analysis of the relationships between construction and operating parameters, the energy required for installation, and the operating energy consumption for water pumping, equipment removal, maintenance, and system operation over the established service life. The optimization problem consists in minimizing the total average annual specific energy consumption required for irrigation through pressurized pipes of the entire irrigated area. The water demand is expressed by the average irrigation norm M (mm/year), the specific discharge at the head qd (l/s), and the static characteristics of the annual variation and seasonality q/qd, respectively (q/qd)², under the given functional restrictions and the limitations imposed by the available irrigation method. The research results support the optimal energy efficient design of irrigation installations in areas with both flat and steep terrain. The proposed methods allow a reduction of 20 to 25% in the energy consumption generated by irrigation through aspersion.
