PRONUNCIATION OF LOAN WORDS IN SLOVAK LANGUAGE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA

Abstract: The submitted paper outlines the process of loaning and usage of words of foreign origin in Slovak language of electronic media. The main focus is on loan word integration with attention to phonetic level of language, comparison of pronunciation of the loan words in their original and Slovak language, and the analysis of the use of vocalic and consonantal inventory of Slovak language while pronouncing these words. Loan words are divided to groups according to the degree of difference of their original pronunciation and pronunciation in Slovak language.
