Abstract: This paper addresses possibilities for provision of private sector social services in the field of homes for the elderly and nursing homes within the Capital City Prague. The aim of the article is to identify potential in the capital city for such private facilities as a solution to the long-term excess of demand for care homes for the elderly over supply thereof. The conclusions, which are intended to evaluate the possible potential, are based mainly on analysis of the healthcare and social system in the Czech Republic and predicted demographic development of the Czech Republic.
