Abstract: The article comprises an attempt of an analysis of the phenomenon of compensatory transformations of values and tries to demonstrate how such transformations can lead to fundamentalism, fanaticism, radicalism, and extremism. The aim of this analysis is to sketch the conditions in which compensatory alteration of values could entail violence.
