Abstract: Sts. Cyril and Methodius, leading figures of the Byzantine mission, have a firm place in the cultural identity of Slovaks. Their feast day is celebrated in Slovakia on 5 July and is also a national feast and a bank holiday. Pilgrimages, festivals and commemorative events are organised at various levels on the occasion of the feast, to which the media sphere reacts accordingly. The study presents the image of the feast of Sts. Cyril and Methodius and its associated celebrations as presented in the Slovak daily press. This research is specifically focused on the online space and thus the web archives of the selected daily newspapers, as they are assumed to have a wider reach and access without time constraints. The aim of the thesis is to present the context of the celebration of the feast of the Slavic apostles and co-patrons of Europe and to outline the tendencies in the reporting of it.
