Abstract: The article deals with tracking of in-line inspection tools. In the paper the necessity of tracking of tools during their operation is shown. The currently existing methods for determining of the location of pipeline inspection tools are described and their advantages and limitations are shown. The system of tracking of location of pipeline tools and the exchange of information with them are proposed. The mechanism of propagation of acoustic oscillations through the pipeline is considered. Comparison of calculated and experimental data is made.
