Abstract: The study aims preliminary determination of the wettability of materials appropriate for design of packings for column apparatuses. Some classical and two new packing materials are investigated at dynamic conditions by measuring the width of a film flowing over a plate of every of them. The influence of the viscosity and surface tension of the liquid phase is presented. Dimensionless equations for calculation of the film width at different physicochemical properties of the liquid phase are given in the paper.
