Abstract: This study examines the optimization of a film coating composition for wood that forms a non transparent and hard combustible protective layer. The coating formulation includes a binding substance, plasticizer, fire inhibitor, and pigments, and its performance is evaluated through adhesion, hardness, and residual flame burning tests. Experimental results from 27 planned compositions were processed with regression models to identify the influence of each component on coating behavior. The results show that the binding substance has the strongest effect on adhesion, while increased fire inhibitor and pigment contents improve hardness and reduce residual burning. An optimal Ognebar paint composition is proposed, offering a suitable balance of adhesion, hardness, and reduced combustibility for fire protective use on wood.
