Abstract: Conditions of details exploitation, also durability and security of all construction very depends from the state of metals surface layer. Hardening of metals surface allows changing expensive metals with cheap ones. Improvement of surface quality allows not to reduce, but even to increase the durability of all construction. In this work the influence of various composited surface treatments on fatigue strength and character of fatigue crack of steel specimens were investigated. Analysed technology of surface hardening greatly increases fatigue strength and durability of specimens. The appearance and spreading of fatigue crack determines the fatigue strength of steel. Characteristics of fatigue crack allow determining the process related to kinetic of appearance and spreading of fatigue crack.
