MEDIA INFLUENCE ON WORKING CLASS WOMEN SOCIAL VALUES IN ABU DHABI

Streszczenie: In the last few years, global media and broadcasting have significant impact and influence on societies especially the one that used to very closed, such as in the Arab countries. This study explores the influence on broadcasting and global media, though Oprah Winfrey’s show, on Arab female viewers in the United Arab Emirates and the impacts on their social values and cultural traditions. The research concluded that those of younger age were more likely to be affected by the Western media and have the potential to embrace changes occurring in their society, while the older ones seemed to be less affected showing some kind of resist to these changes and consider them as threat coming from the west suggesting that something should be done to prevent the Western influx seeping into Emirati’s society..
