Rezumat: There has been an increasingly widespread awareness that academics need to engage in scholarly research activities. This could potentially enhance both individual and institutional performance and thereby the positive contribution that academic institutions can make to society. This paper aims to investigate the role if educational mangers in promoting the scholarly research and publishing activities at the private college. Saudi Arabia is a young country and interesting case to examine. A private college was selected to conduct the research within. Survey was distributed among many academic participants. The main finding of this study is that the most highly recommended motivational strategies to promote scholarly research at the college are to minimise the dissatisfiers and provide incentives, rather than to threaten and/or impose punishments on academic staff.
