THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT GERONTOLOGICAL AGES

Rezumat: Educational Center for adults also known as Ventspils Digital Center (hereinafter VDC) was founded by self-government of Ventspils. The process of continuing education was activated in the development of Digital Center, where on an annual basis a sufficient number of applicants are studied of using information and communication technologies (hereinafter ICT). Disabled people, pensioners, unemployed, youth and children are visited the fundamental courses of ICT. This report is based on the work of VDC that was paying a particular attention on teaching ICT to people in gerontological age, as well as stressing the achievements of trainees in this social group. In addition, during the educational process of older people VDCs’ teachers were convinced to use a creative approach. This approach allows taking into account all major social, biological and psychological characteristics aspects of older people, which leads directly to the high performance of trainees.
