Biography
Lucie Bačáková, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof., leads the Laboratory of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic.
She graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at Charles University in Prague in 1984, joined the Institute of Physiology soon after, and earned her PhD in 1992. She later completed research fellowships at the University of Washington in Seattle (1996), the University of Pavia in Italy (2000), and the University of Pennsylvania (2000 to 2001).
In 2005, she established the Laboratory of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at IPHYS. In 2022, she received the prestigious Praemium Academiae award. She has authored over 290 articles in SCI indexed journals, with 11,000 Web of Science citations and an h index of 49.
