Abstract: The paper describes the phenomenon of pedagogical farms, indicating their significance for the rural environment protection in the cultural aspect. The authors outline the role of the cultural heritage – both material and spiritual – in the development of rural tourism, as well as the role of tourism in the heritage preservation. The importance of pedagogical farms in the process is emphasized. The formal and legal context of the pedagogical farm idea is shortly presented. The authors also describe the way the pedagogical farm offer functions in the field of education, especially with reference to the Lower Silesia region in Poland.
