Abstract: The combination of the climate elements, the lithological characteristics and the active mining activities in the vicinity of Madzharovo are prerequisites for intensive denudation processes. As a result, material from the adjacent territories is periodically exported and part of them are transported to the lowest part of the caldera - the valley of Arda River. Measures are needed to improve the state of the partial catchments of the Arda river, which will gradually reduce the amount of solid outflow to Ivailovgrad dam.
Keywords: madzharovo, climate, erosion, disturbed terrains, embankment, alluvium
