Abstract: Equivalence in translation has been a subject of debate for a long time, with ongoing discussions about its importance and practicality. Leading scholars have explored the complexities of this concept, assessing whether it is a valid part of translation or merely an "illusory" idea. This paper seeks to emphasize key theories in the field, particularly focusing on the 4Es Standard. The 4Es Standard is a framework used in business translation to ensure that translations are of high quality and effectiveness. It provides a set of criteria—Effectiveness, Efficiency, Economy, and Equity—that help guarantee that translations meet both business needs and professional standards.
Keywords: functional effectiveness, equivalence, business translation, 4es standard
