Abstract: The aim of the paper is to introduce the issues solved within TAČR project (Technology Agency of Czech Republic). The title of the project is “Education in engineering branches and its optimization for the needs of the labor market”. Its content focuses on the current needs of workers in engineering companies and innovation centers. The project proposal resulted from an analysis of the current situation in the field of technical education and the situation on the labor market in the sphere of technical professions. The paper also brings the partial results of the National Institute for Education’s 2012 survey as a basic insight into the issues solved within TAČR project.
